Parish Council - Selective Vision?
Sunday, June 25th, 2006PARISH NETTLES & DILAPIDATION
Several days ago, Mrs Jillian Jenkins of Stocks Cottage received a letter from her Landlord, The Swinbrook & Widford Educational Trust, from whom her late husband, Hugh, and herself have rented a garage at the top of Swin lane for well over 30 years.
It stated that the Parish Council had brought to their attention "that the area surrounding the garage is becoming increasingly overgrown with nettles and scrub and is unsightly and looks quite dilapidated" (failing to note that the field beyond its boundary was teeming with 'unsightly' Nettles and scrub).
Now call me innocent of the duties of a Parish Council but this just does not seem to me to be on the 'A' list of priorities and only appears to be applied to land abutting that of the un-elected Treasurer of the Parish Council. In fact, I find that one (and maybe more) of the Councillors is not even aware of this matter at all.
In an effort to save the Parish Council valuable time, better spent on pursuing important issues to the community, I have spent a few minutes on my own personal "Nettle and Dilapidation" watch. The results can be viewed in the Nettle Watch Gallery
Please feel free to comment (especially you Councillors) or send in your own Nettle Watch observations.
In the meantime, I shall think of better use of Parish Council time and publish my suggestions (why don't you put in your penny's worth?). I hope they think about it too.
